  • The Welcome Home, Neighbor network is a collaboration between property partners, community leaders, and service providers in Connecticut. 

  • The Welcome Home Neighbor network provides benefit and support to property owners and managers that accept rental assistance and reduce screening criteria to house the community’s most vulnerable neighbors.

  • Welcome Home, Neighbor provides:

    Financial incentives, including a Damage & Lost Rent Fund. 

    Dedicated point of contact for property owners and managers.

    Easy-to-use software for listing availability and receiving applications.

    Support from local service providers assisting households with stable tenancies 

  • No. WHN itself does not pay monthly rent on behalf of referred tenants but is a network of benefits designed to enhance the ongoing rental assistance our referrals often utilize. Our referrals often utilize either Rapid Rehousing or Permanent Supportive Housing programs to cover their contract rental payments.

  • Membership is free. Fill out the membership agreement form today!

  • Membership is ongoing, provided that property partners continue to uphold the terms of the membership agreement. A member may choose to withdraw from the network at anytime given a 30 day written notice.

  • The Welcome Home, Neighbor network currently offers memberships in Fairfield County, Litchfield County, Waterbury, and New Haven County.

    The network is expanding, sign up for updates if your property is not currently eligible!

  • Padmission is a closed listing database that is only accessed by local homeless service providers assisting future tenants with applications to participating units. Padmission requires an account and is not viewable by the wider community.

  • The Claim Fund is for damages above the normal wear and tear of a tenancy that are beyond the cost covered by the security deposit. Compensation is capped at $2,500 per unit.  At the conclusion of a referred tenant’s lease, an inspection will take place once a housing partner files a claim for damages. If a claim of excessive damage is substantiated, the housing partner will receive reimbursement for damages. 

    A member can also receive a vacancy loss reimbursement up to one month of rent if a tenant does not provide proper notice and leaves the unit abandoned or vacant.

  • The New Member Bonus is a cash payment offered to a WHN property partner upon the first lease execution with a WHN supported tenant. The bonus is not rent or a security deposit and is non-refundable. The current bonus is for leases signed between February 15th, 2024-June 30th, 2024 in Western CT.
